The Coca Cola Company

The Coca-Cola Company is the largest beverage company in the world.

The Coca Cola Company joined Climate Savers in 2008, committing to stabilize emissions system-wide and to a 5 percent absolute emissions reduction in Annex 1 countries by 2015 compared to baseline year 2004 for both targets.

Without the intervention, emissions would grow proportional to the company’s forecasted volume growth and reach 7.3 million metric tons in 2015.  The Coca Cola Company’s global commitment will prevent the release of more than 2 million metric tons of CO2 in 2015 – the equivalent of planting 600,000 acres of trees.

As part of a broader partnership with WWF, The Coca Cola Company also committed to a 20 percent improvement in water efficiency by 2012 compared to a 2004 baseline year, to help conserve the world’s most important freshwater basins and to work along its supply chain promoting sustainable agricultural practices.

“Water and energy conservation are areas where we can truly make a difference,” said Muhtar Kent, president and CEO of the Coca-Cola Company.
