Urban Solutions for a Living Planet

WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. To achieve this objective, cities play a crucial role, given their huge and rapidly growing share of global population and corresponding energy demands. They are also responsible for over 70% of global CO2 emissions, as well as massive material consumption.

In line with this mission, it is WWFs challenge to cities to reduce their ecological footprints and protect biodiversity. This website provides
100+ inspiring examples of how cities around the world are stretching and innovating to meet the overall goal.

Your participation is vital in our shared co-creation of sustainable cities. It’s time for us all to start asking tough questions, seeking out real answers, and using what we learn to live sustainably.
