Key requirements for the role include:

Master's degree or higher in business administration, business management or related fields
7 years of experience in the leadership and management of an organisation, 3 years of which should be in the Greater Mekong Region (preferably in Thailand), with demonstrated success in managing multi-cultural teams
Thorough understanding of Thailand geography, society, culture, socio-economic, conservation and development issues, the political situation and the country's relationship and significance in the wider region
Knowledge of the realities of development partners, donor institutions, government agencies and the not-for-profit sector in the region
Excellent people management and capacity building/development skills
Policy advocacy, influencing and negotiation skills with an appreciation of the demands of conflicting interests and of meeting statutory requirements

With three of the most pristine large rivers and some of the most extensive intact forest in the region, Myanmar is Asia's last frontier for conservation. Its natural environments remain mostly unspoiled. They support some of the region's poorest people, and possibly the largest populations of wild elephants in Southeast Asia. But Myanmar is also now experiencing many of the same pressures faced by the rest of the Greater Mekong, from deforestation to illegal wildlife trade to energy demand.

The new Country Director position has legal representation of WWF in Myanmar and advocates on behalf of WWF-Greater Mekong in Myanmar to build institutional relationships and promote cooperative programme activities with national partners. He/she manages the programme with a start-up budget of around 0,5 million USD, with the aim of establishing an office in Myanmar and recruiting and establishing a team in- country.

Main responsibilities:
