So. You want to save the planet?

You're young and you've got a brain.

Added to this, you've got a passion for the planet.

All you need is the opportunity.

WWF is running a global volunteer programme for a select number of young people in such countries as Madagascar, Paraguay, Peru, Fiji, Bhutan.

To take part we'll make you jump through several hoops  - namely a torturous application form.

But if you get selected....

For example, you could find yourself working for such WWF Madagascar projects as:

  • Conservation of Toliara Reef
  • Water Resource Management for the Mahafaly Plateau
  • Fandriana-Marolambo Forest Landscape Restoration

SOUTH PACIFIC (Fiji)

6-month volunteer placement with WWF South Pacific communications team based in Fiji (incl. field trips). Starting date July/August 2012. Assignment  includes activities such as
  • write articles/feature stories for WWF website, e-news, local newspapers
  • assist with organization of events & campaigns
  • help maintain social media sites & design ways to increase traffic
  • help create and maintain database
  • liaise with other NGOs where necessary
Seeking candidates with following skills:
  • Fluency both written & spoken English
  • Background/degree in communications or environment related field
  • Some experience in communications & international environment
  • Demonstrated writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & ability work with multi-discipline team & independently
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access)
  • Passionate about environment & sustainability

    Empowering Civil Society for Improved Livelihoods and Effective Natural Resources, Ivohibe : The project aims to build a strong foundation for environmental civil society in Madagascar, which will strengthen the ability of the population to address the challenges of environmental resource management and poverty in rural areas and contributes to the building of sustainable development. The project involves supporting local civil society in two focal regions - the moist forest in the Eastern Corridor and the Manambolomaty and Tsiribihina complex mangroves. The project also aims to reinforce and support a network of environmental organizations in other regions and at the national level.

    Youth Environmental Clubs to mobilize children and communities toward sustainable development :
    The project aims to reinforce youth environmental clubs and their network in two priority landscapes (Ranobe and COFAV), so they proactively influence and engage other out-of-school youth and community members in sustainable natural resource management and improved living conditions, thus meeting their development rights and needs.

    Le Projet Tsimanampetsotse et Kirindy Mitea est un projet de soutien technique aux deux parcs gérés par Madagascar National Parks (basé à Toliara). Le projet aura besoin d’un volontaire ayant le profil suivant:

    • Formation/études universitaires ou expérience en communication, multi-média ou journalisme
    • Maîtrise du logiciel Photoshop, In-design et/ou Adobe Première
    • Bonnes capacités rédactionnelles en français et si possible en anglais
    • Capacité d’adaptation à climat chaud et sec, conditions rudimentaires sur terrain
    • Capacité rédiger des documents informatifs sur le projet et les parcs (fact-sheet, brochure, guide touristique, etc.) et de mise en page
    • Créativité : capacité d’apporter de nouvelles idées sur les thèmes et outils de communication
    • Intérêt pour la nature, la conservation et l’environnement

I met some incredible people I will never forget who inspired me to work harder and be a better conservationist. I have seen things and places and had experiences I'd only dreamed about, or I did not think possible. Ultimately it was a life changing experience and a big success.
