The Treasures of the Mediterranean

4 May 2007, Montreux
WWF International held its annual gala event at Raffles le Montreux Palace in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, our guest of honour.

Four hundred guests attended the gala evening in aid of WWF to protect the treasures of the Mediterranean, the official theme of the evening.

With this Panda Ball, WWF thanks all its private major donors who generously donated 9 million CHF over the past year. The gala evening itself added a cherry to the top of the cake; another 300.000 CHF.

The gala was perfectly orchestrated by Mélanie Freymond and Paul Steele. Mime acts from Zirk Theatre, a dance fashion show by Switcher on a 15-meter catwalk and live music from The Black Diamonds Band entertained the guests of this wonderful evening.

Tourism is big business in the Mediterranean. Around 220 million tourists flock to the region every year. More than three times the population of France. WWF is working throughout the region to conserve the natural wealth. With the precious support of H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco and our generous donors, WWF will continue the fight to save this pocket of paradise.

The Panda Ball 2007 was organized with the generous support of Bank Sarasin & Co Ltd and Raffles Le Montreux Palace.
