The Panda Ball
At the five-star Splendid Royale Hotel in the charming lakeside city of Lugano in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Duke of Edinburgh Conservation Medal. The award ceremony is a special event on the conservation world’s calendar as the medal is given annually to individuals who have realized outstanding achievements in conservation. Dr.Tirtha Man Maskey, the Director General of the Department of National Parks Wildlife conservation of the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation, Kathmandu, Nepal, was presented with the prestigious award during the Lugano Panda Ball. Dr. Maskey's work has been critical in influencing national policy and introducing innovative measures to protect the rich biodiversity of Nepal.
Raising funds for the Alps
With a VIP guest list, The Panda Ball welcomed WWF’s supporters from the business, banking and financial sectors, and was held in aid of WWF’s conservation work in the magnificent, alpine regions of Europe.
