Protecting Mangroves in Madagascar through WWF's Volunteer & Internship Programme EXPLORE!Hello everyone, I am Dorine from Rwanda. My teammates and I were in Madagascar on the WWF's Volunteer & Internship Programme Explore! from August to December 2017, with the protection of mangroves and reduction of poverty in the Ambaro Bay as our main tasks.
This was simply a life-changing experience as I learned a lot from my fellow volunteers, the WWF staff as well as the communities. I am an environmental activist, currently carrying out my master’s in Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resources Management; therefore, this experience has helped in my career by improving my conservation and professional skills.
Apart from that, I got to meet a lot of interesting and cool people and some had become my family by the end of the program. This was surely an exceptional experience and I was incredibly lucky to be part of it; because I not only got a chance to learn while contributing to biodiversity conservation and community wellbeing but also, I had a lot of fun.
