WWF album featuring the Lower Danube and the Danube Delta is launched
“The Lower Danube and Danube Delta are among WWF’s global list of the 200 most outstanding natural areas on the planet”, said Ivan Hristov, Freshwater Coordinator of WWF in Bulgaria. “They have been the focus of WWF’s conservation efforts for the past two decades. Much has been accomplished over this time and we wanted to introduce these remarkable placed to the general public. In a word, this book reveals not only the Danube’s beauty and natural treasures, but also some of the achievements of the past years”, Hristov said.
“At the same time, the EU and the local governments plan to improve navigation on the Danube, something that could threaten many of the river’s greatest treasures, especially on the Lower Danube. This is something we need to watch out for”.
