Over 200 Kg Of Smuggled Wildlife Parts Burned in Oudomsay province, Laos

Authorities burned over 200 kg of smuggled wildlife parts seized from local markets in Xay and Lar districts, Oudomxay Province.
Jul 5: Authorities burned over 200 kg of smuggled wildlife parts seized from local markets in Xay and Lar districts, Oudomxay Province.
 
Representatives from local authorities, WWF-Laos and relevant officials attended the burning. According to officials, the smuggled items included parts from wild boars, deer, barking deer, pangolins, civet cats, water monitors, squirrels, and wild chickens, among others.
 
The province forest inspection officers also released live animals seized from smugglers into the Namkat Yor La Pa protected area in Oudomxay Province.
 
WWF-Laos’ work with the department of forest inspection to fight wildlife trafficking will be expanded to Luang Namtha and Bokeo provinces in northern Laos by the end of this year.
