The forest tools and equipment obtained in the frames of the EU funded regional project "Increasing the Resilience of Forest Ecosystems against Climate Change in the Southern Caucasus through Forest Transformation" are being used by WWF Armenia for the field activities in the pilot sites of the forest program. The tools donated to “Hayantar” SNCO of the RA Ministry of Agriculture in autumn 2012 are also actively used by respective forest enterprises for implementation of field activities on forest transformation. In autumn 2013 additional technical assistance was provided to “Hayantar” SNCO in the frames of the EU project to be used for their ongoing and planned activities.

The forest transformation project in Armenia is implemented by WWF Armenia and aimed at increasing the resilience of forest stands against climate change. The overall objective of the project is to mitigate climate change impacts and improve biodiversity and livelihoods of local populations. Two pilot sites with total area of 150 ha are located in Gugarq and Noyemberyan Forest Enterprises of “Hayantar” SNCO (respectively Lori and Tavush Regions of Armenia). They will be transformed into more resilient and “close to nature” forests. Forest transformation activities were started in autumn 2012, and will be finalized in 2014.
