Illegal wildlife traders nabbed
The tiger skin and bones were found when officials raided a hotel room in Gelephu
of September, the Forest Protection and Surveillance Unit (FPSU) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests seized a tiger skin and bones from two Indian men in Gelephu. The confiscation was made from a hotel in Gelegphu town before the men could trade it with a Bhutanese buyer.
According to the officials, the suspects’ room was raided following a tip-off from their informer. The culprits were dealt with as per the forest conservation rules.
The unit has a network of informers both within and outside the country. The officials from the Forest Protection and Surveillance Unit says anybody giving any information on wildlife trade will be rewarded
