Donation of Forestry Tools to “Hayantar” SNCO

The forestry tools were donated by WWF Armenia to “Hayantar” State Non-Commercial Organization of the RA Ministry of Agriculture to be used for implementation of forest transformation measures in the frames of the EU funded regional project "Increasing the Resilience of Forest Ecosystems against Climate Change in the Southern Caucasus through Forest Transformation".

The project in Armenia is implemented by WWF Armenia and aimed at increasing the resilience of forest stands against climate change. The overall objective of the project is to mitigate climate change impacts and to improve biodiversity and livelihoods of local populations. Two pilot sites with total area of 150 ha located in Gugarq and Noyemberyan Forest Enterprises of “Hayantar” SNCO (respectively Lori and Tavush Regions of Armenia) will be transformed into more resilient and “close to nature” forests. The fencing of pilot sites was finalized. Forest transformation activities were started in autumn 2012 and will be finalized in spring 2014.
