Young scientists compete in environmental championship
Supported by WWF, tournament events are being held simultaneously in all Ukrainian and Russian speaking countries between 19-24 April 2012, and between 30 April-6 May 2012 in other countries. This is the second consecutive year that the International Youth Championships are being organized.
Last year's championships attracted more than five hundred students and young scientists from fifty colleges and universities.
According to the organizers, the main reason for the environmental crisis in the world today is the lack of meaningful environmental education. “By carrying out environmental competitions, we want to contribute to the formation of ecological consciousness. In the information age, the best investment is the investment in intelligence”.
Participants in the tournament are divided into three age categories:
- Schools – young people of up to 18-years old.
- Students – students between 18 and 22 years old.
- Young scientists - participants from 23 to 35 years old.
